L&T up marginally on Rs 6,897cr order

The stock touched a high of Rs 1,555 but could not hold on to gains. It finally ended with a 1.3% gain at Rs 1,547. The company has bagged an order from Maharashtra State Power Generation Co Ltd (Mahagenco) worth Rs 6,897 crore. This is one of the largest contracts for thermal power. The project, for the 1,980 Mw thermal power plant at Koradi near Nagpur, was won after stiff competition from domestic and international power majors.

State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam"s (BSNL) net profit dipped to Rs 104 crore in 2008-09 as staff costs rose and revenues fell in the period, Rajya Sabha was informed today.
